Harding HS gets NEW principal

EACS which has several schools in the same situation under PL221 as FWCS has hired a new principal, Kent Hoffman, at Harding High School. A new principal from New York City no less, not a principal transferred from another failing school like FWCS has at Wayne and South Side. Ahead of tonight's EACS board meeting to recommend a plan for reorganizing the district, it would seem that Harding might survive as is, despite the JG's never ending call for EACS to address its "academic inequalities".

What does that mean? Harding at 28.7% combined passing on the ISTEP and rising the last time the GQE was given in 2009, was doing better than Wayne at 25.7% and dropping. I've never heard any calls from the JG about FWCS needing to address academic inequality.

The NEW principal from NYC is horrible! If you complete an internet search on Mr. Hoffman, you will learn why he is no longer employed with NY Public Schools - leading in cheating on standardized tests scores. Mr. Huffman is the WORST thing that EACS has done for the students - there are no chairs, too many students, a lack of math and science teachers, a lack of care and concern, on and on. Any parent with a brain in their head is pulling their child out and moving them to a different schools. There is the belief that Mr. Hoffman was brought in to EACS, because he so horrible, so they can close Harding right after winter break.

Well, that would be some kind of perverse logic, to go to the trouble of going outside the system to find an incompetent principal just so they will have an excuse to close the school. Let's see what the proposal for Harding is at the board meeting.

What options do parents who want to pull their kids out of Harding have, short of moving to another district? And if they move to the south side of Fort Wayne, they won't find anything better. In fact Wayne HS is worse.

The new plan has all high schools staying open with Harding being trnasfored into an academy. Sounds complicated snd since it depends on approval of a referendum, it also sounds iffy.

There are those who worked at Elmhurst who feel they witnessed the perverse logic Code Blue mentioned. They believe FWCS brought in an incompetent principal from outside the system in order to find an excuse to close Elmhurst in 07. The plan just missed by 3 years.
