On the up side.....

School districts are short of money and feeling the pinch like ordinary taxpayers. Half empty schools may finally have to close. Indiana lowers the bar and adopts "common core' standards while Fordham Foundation president Chester Finn says they've done a "miserable job" implementing the ones they have. No RTT money is forthcoming and FWCS has to play musical chairs with administrators and teachers to try to fool Tony Bennett into thinking they're actually changing something.

But there is some good news coming from Milwaukee where the teachers' union is standing up for their members. Despite losing about 500 members to layoffs, the union is suing their district to get free Viagra and other erectile dysfunction meds back into their health care benefits. The school board, deciding that these were "recreational" drugs, eliminated them, saving about $800K per year. But the union disagrees, arguing that erectile dysfunction is a major problem in a profession where seniority rules reward old age instead of competence.

FWEA should take notice.

I'm glad you brought up the "ED" and health care costs. I wonder if the JG offers health care to Dan Stockman or is he on Krista's FWCS plan. If he is, he shouldn't be sucking done all that expensive wine. It should be made public record. I know Tim Pape is getting taxpayer paid health care. Imagine, a managing parter of Carson Boxberger isn't offered a health plan? Maybe that's why he could afford to buy the Fitch mansion on Old Mill Rd. (4404 Old Mill Rd.-2007-2008 accessments $571,100 - $521,800. Looks like Bev Zuber has been looking out for him.)

I don't think that the Journal Gazette is offering health coverage to Dan Stockman. They probably don't have have the revenue. Didn't they hire Karen Francisco's grandson to write that "Ft. Wayne novel". It wasn't that bad for a 5th grader.

Tim Pape doesn't live in a mansion on Old Mill Road, he lives on Beaver Ave. in a very nice home, but let's be honest Tim Pape has an excellent health care plan with Carson Boxberger. His children go to Catholic schools, because he is Catholic and his wife was a school teacher at his kids school. Why bring up Tim Pape?

Tim Pape lived on Tacoma Ave.

He now lives on Old Mill Rd.

It was reported in the FW Newspapers that Mr. Pape was receiving health care from the City Of Ft. Wayne because he is on the City Council. Is that right? I voted for him. I doubt if I will ever vote for him again.

The Viagra story was the subject of a Jay Leno joke on the Tonight Show last night. It's always good to get national regognition of what you stand (up?) for.

Anonymous, Tim Pape should be brought up. He had his picture taken with Steve Corona for a Corona mailer last election. If Tim Pape wants to use his political capital on another who sent his children to private schools, let him. But people have the right to know. Tim ran his first campaign on his "Blue Collar" up bringing. I hope he doesn't turn into another John Edwards.

Dr. Hayhurst was also pictured on the Corona mailer. Now I see his campaign ads promising "something new", while he backs a 30 year hack who presided over the demise of my school district.
