The infallibility of the school board

Now ms. Frisco is telling the Elmhurst supporters to get over it because the courts shouldn't be able to reverse the decision of elected school board members (like in Brown vs. the Board of Education). You voted them into office so you should accept their wisdom. As if having the courts overrule elected officials is unheard of (didn't GiaQuinta sue the mayor a while back?). Wendy's rubber stamps are sort of like the Pope and his cardinals. They're infallible between elections. To the JG, FWCS is infallible for eternity.

The reason for keeping Elmhurst open is that it's still a viable alternative to the other three failed high schools south of Coliseum. Unfortunately, even if it stays open, that won't be true much longer under a management on Clinton Street that's determined to close it.

You said it Code Blue. The JG is not interested in anyones opinions anymore, they just want you to agree with them and be done with it. They put a whole 3 letters in the paper now to the Editor and I know that with an election coming up more letters are sent in than that....or maybe not...maybe they are going to the Waynedale News and Ft Wayne Reader, and Whatzup....they are putting more and more national writers in. I don't care what they think of Angie and the Elmhurst people fighting back...ANYTHING is possible with a lawsuit..anything. I do not see how any of these board members will be re elected, and I thank God everyday for that possibility.

You're right, anything can happen. That's why cases are usually settled out of court. In any event the three failed high schools on this side of town will not improve any time soon, if ever, because their fate is tied to what come up form the middle and elementary schools. As that becomes evident in the next few years the bitterness over closing the last viable alternative will grow.

It would be better to keep Elmhurst open for the time being and see how it plays out. The milllion or so they're saving shouldn't be hard to find elsewhere in a $300 million annual budget. If Elmhurst then goes down the same road as the other three there will be no justfication for keeping it open. If it succeeds, they will at least have one good story to talk about on this side of town.
