Wendy's "transparent" no-cut contract

Now Karen Frisco wants us to rejoice in the "transparency" of the process that gave us five more years of Wendy. Wow, each side even had a lawyer! This contract puts Wendy in the same league as Charlie Weis. The difference of course is that while Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick is only concerned about results, FWCS board president Mark GiaQuinta is only concerned about appearances. Discussion of Wendy's performance on the much ballyhooed "balanced scorecard" has was put off until after she got her new deal. Now that results no longer matter, she will be "evaluated" by the scorecard.

Sadly, the district has gotten to the point where it no longer matters who's in charge. Seven years ago, when Wendy got the job, it might still have been possible to turn the district around, if academics had been her top priority. But, in hindsight, that was too much to expect from a lifetime member of the FWCS education bureaucracy which is only concerned with self perpetuation. The shifts in the district's demographics and income levels are probably past the point of no return. The only schools still academically viable and attractive to middle income parents are north of Coliseum Boulevard and they will eventually succumb to the trends.

The question now is how much longer the ship will stay afloat and how much it's going to cost the taxpayers to keep bailing it out. Wendy's "frozen" salary is irrelevant in that equation as are Karen's (and the JG's) new-found concern for saving taxpayer money.

I wonder what the JG and "Frisco" would have to write about without Imagine schools? Here it is Friday..and thought we would get by at least one week...maybe Code Blue Schools could find out why so many of the positive letters (if the JG says it a fair balanced paper lol) have not been printed? My inside sources at the paper say they have received over 50 letters from very happy parents with children that are actually "learning". Why won't they let the public see those?

Fifty letters from very happy parents? So far, we've received a grand total of two letters critical of the series. Both were published.
Your "inside sources at the paper" might want to check their facts.

The JG is best ignored on the subject of K-12 education. Too many of its writers and editors have turned their backs on the newspaper's former traditions of objectivity, balance, transparency and accuracy. From the investigative series done by the husband of FWCS' public relations chief to the editorials supervised by the close friend of the president of the FWCS school board, the newspaper has willfully rejected all notions of legitimate journalism when it comes to reporting about education.

The paper's recent piece about Don Willis is one more example of the depths to which the JG's will stoop to advance its agenda to attack charter schools/protect FWCS. What was the point of such a vicious, one-sided attack? It was silly and unnecessary. Do the JG's reporters and editors really believe Willis is up to something insidious inside the classrooms of Imagine Schools? If so, they've failed to prove such a thing despite gallons of ink wasted on insinuations, attacks and "investigations."

Thankfully the public is waking up to the failings of the JS as subscriptions wither right along with the newspaper's journalistic standards. I feel badly that Richard and Harriet Inskeep are forced to watch from the sidelines as their once proud newspaper is so terribly mismanaged.

Nice job gbacks.....and so true.
So..Karen, should the folks that have written contact you directly and ask you about their mail?
And the sources at the paper are under your direct employ...so you know thay are reliable..you hired them.

Yes, any Imagine parent who claims to have submitted a letter for publication may contact me at 461-8206 or kfrancisco@jg.net
I communicated Monday with one parent who did not want her letter published. Otherwise, I've seen no letters from Imagine parents.
For the record, I've never hired anyone at the JG nor do I supervise anyone.
I would also suggest "The truth shall set you free ..." is a great username for someone cowering in anonymity.

Gbacks-

Do you really believe the Inskeeps are helplessly watching their paper go down the tubes. Harriet Inskeep is Ft. Wayne's biggest apologist for FWCS and Wendy in particluar. Harriet is Wendy's buddy who wants to see her succeed.

Well, we all did but now that it's becoming more and more obvious she won't, the JG still can't pull the plug.
